My thoughts...
This was a sweet love story, and I have to admit that my favorite part was the physical description of Mae. Finally, a book where the female does not have the model-perfect size 2 body! Mae was curvy and soft; a real woman. She was uncomfortable with her size but learns that she was still sexy and desirable, despite how she looked on the outside. High five to Mae for representing the luscious bodies of women around the world!
My feelings about Mae and Seth shifted back and forth during the story. I first felt very compassionate towards Mae, but near the end ,I was aggravated that she was not willing to stand up for herself. Seth was the ultimate alpha male until he overreacts in true male form and I lost all respect for him. The characters did redeem themselves at the end and I got the happily ever after I love in a good romance, yet I still was feeling conflicted. But that's a good story, right? You are not supposed to love every character and evoking strong feelings in the reader, whatever they may be, is the goal of every great writer!
I had a difficult time rating this book because of the amount of editing still needed in the copy I received. After contacting Wendy, however, I'm happy to share that she is working on the edits and that the copies being sold now are updated.
If you are looking for a sweet romance with some pretty hot sex scenes, check this one out! This is Wendy Ferraro's first novel and I think you will enjoy reading about Mae and Seth as much as I did. Add in three pretty great kids, a beautiful lake view, and a touching story of loss, and you will see exactly what I mean!
