Synopsis from Goodreads:
When you're lost, sometimes the only
place you can go is home.
Broken over the death of her fiancé, Molly leaves law school to return to her childhood home in North Carolina. Expecting to lay low until she can figure out what else to do with her life, she finds herself in the arms of her high school sweetheart, the boy who represents everything from the past she tried to leave behind.
Looking for an escape, she instead finds a way back to the girl she almost forgot existed and a future she never dreamed possible

This story is really quite tragic.
Molly has lost her fiancé and is back in her hometown in what I would describe
as a journey to reclaim her identity. She has been through hell. Losing her
father at a young age, and then losing her first love, now her fiancé and the
world she thought she wanted; it’s just all too much for her. The storyline
embraces tragedy and a person’s ability to overcome the obstacles that have
left scars.
After returning home, Molly is
immediately thrown into a world once forgotten. She’s surrounded by those who
knew her “before” and who think they understand what she’s made of what she’s
been through. The façade of understanding and the ever-present air of
misunderstanding are present through most of the first portion of the book.
Molly is keeping the circumstances surrounding her fiancé’s death a secret because
she doesn’t have the ability to cope and face it head on. By doing this, she is
actually delaying her healing. My heart broke from Molly because, really, she
is just a broken girl looking for someone to help fix her. But her ability to
trust is broken. She can’t bring herself to trust anyone let alone the one
person who truly understands her, her high school sweetheart, Ben.
Ben, oh Ben. I adored him. He’s
simple, honest and loyal; passionate and yummy. He still thinks that no one can
hold a candle to the perfection of Molly and he is just the right person that
can help her to understand that moving on and healing is the first step in
finding her true self and happiness. The banter and sparks between these two
were addicting. Just you wait, you’ll love them too.
This story weaves a tragically sweet
tale of tragedy, distrust, guilt, love and hope. Once you dive in, you’ll enjoy
the full package and array of emotions.
